The White House has been criticised for taking in an almost entirely white cohort of interns under President Donald Trump's watch.

New York Daily News columnist Brandon Friedman tweeted that this spring and last summer, the White House recruited 206 interns and only three of them were black.

Washington Post columnist Brian Klass said the intern class photo is "like a Where's Waldo for a non-white person in a country that is about 40% non-white".

According to Gallup's most recent data, President Trump's approval rating is dire among black Americans with just 9 percent approval.

Within the Republican supporter base, 83 percent of whites approve of the President compared to 59 percent of non-white.
