Queen Elizabeth and the Royal Family have been given a stunning performance by a Māori cultural group in London.

The Ngāti Rānana London Māori Club was called to showcase their culture for Commonwealth Day celebrations at Westminster Abbey on Monday (NZ time). Commonwealth Day recognises the cultural importance of the group's 53 members.

Their incredible recital was witnessed by Queen Elizabeth II, Prince Harry and his fiancé Meghan Markle, Prince William and his wife Catherine and Prince Charles.

"Ngāti Rānana is honoured to perform in the presence of Her Majesty the Queen and The Royal Family at Westminster Abbey for the Commonwealth Service," the group said on Facebook.

Ngāti Rānana was formed in 1958 by New Zealanders who had moved to London.

"Ngāti Rānana London Māori Club aims to provide New Zealanders residing in the United Kingdom and others interested in Māori culture an environment to teach, learn and participate in Māori culture," it says.

Their performance was met with rapturous applause from fans.

"It was wonderful to see you all. Beautiful waiata as always xxx," one commented on Facebook.
