Stephen Fry undergoes surgery after cancer diagnosis

British actor Stephen Fry has revealed he was diagnosed with prostate cancer late last year.

"For the last two months I've been in the throes of a rather unwelcome and unexpected adventure," he said in a video posted to YouTube.

"I'm sorry I haven't felt able to talk about it till now, but here I am explaining what has been going on."

The 60-year-old went for a flu jab, and his doctor suggested a general check-up, which led to an MRI and the cancer diagnosis.

"I felt my life was saved by early intervention so I would urge any of you men of a certain age to get your PSA levels checked," said Fry.

He says he feels "fit and well and happy" after having lymph nodes removed, and is now in the clear.
